Bank holiday was another chance for a bit of fun, when most of the members entered into the spirit of the “Guys and Dolls – reversed” even those not playing.

A bottle of Prosecco was presented to the best dressed man as a woman, Alby George, and woman as a man, Yvonne Phillips. There was much merriment as well as bowling. The afternoon was rounded off with a delicious barbeque, thanks to Carole and her son and daughter-in-law.

Unfortunately the remainder of the week did not follow this happy trend. On Tuesday the ladies had another match cancelled when Alexandra Park conceded due to lack of players. The mens’ friendly on Wednesday, at Frome Park, was turned into a mixed match to make up the numbers, but in spite of an enjoyable evening Fosseway were defeated. The ladies had a Mendip League game on Thursday at Isle of Wedmore, which in spite of winning on one rink, was another loss. The men were also beaten at Purnell in the County League on Saturday, even after putting up a good fight.

Club competitions are in full swing leading up to the finals on 17th/18th September. Another season almost over, how quickly the time goes when you’re having fun.
