The Seniors' section of Fosseway Golf Club looked back on another enjoyable year when it held its AGM at the Centurion Hotel.

In his annual report, Secretary, Ray Lake, thanked last season's Captain, Terry Button, who had achieved fourteen wins and eleven defeats in the social matches.

The team had been well beaten in the Rose Bowl by a strong side from Clevedon, but one of the highlights of the campaign had been a convincing victory in the triangular contest with Shortwood Lodge and Minchinhampton, Fosseway's first success in the contest for many years.

Lake said that the Seniors Open had again gone well and encouraged members to take part in this year's event which is to be held on July 4th. He thanked Allen Cheney for once again organising the competition, but said that it would be Allen's last year doing it in 2013. The presentation dinner had also been a big success.

On a sad note, the Secretary said that three long-standing club members, Ken Dunmall, Mark Bridges and Mike Case, had died during the last twelve months.

Members agreed to hold another scratch competition as part of the June Medal. New Captain, Gerald Rowell, who chaired the meeting, will organise this year's away day at Cumberwell Park, but Terry Button will do it in future.

It was announced that ten bunkers still needed work done on them and members agreed to make an offer to contribute towards the cost. Frank Reeves said that George Bidmead was one of the best groundsmen that Fosseway had ever had and deserved our support.

After some discussion it was decided to hold a separate Turkey Trot for Seniors.

The election of officers resulted as follows:

Captain: Gerald Rowell

Vice-Captain: Cyril Blacker

Treasurer: Colin Moon

General Secretary: Ray Lake

Competition Secretary: Rod Bruce

Medal Secretary: Brian Phelps

Fixture Secretary: Howard Nowell

Seniors Open Secretary: Allen Cheney
