The Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club gained sweet revenge for a heavy defeat suffered away to Wincanton earlier in the season, with an equally emphatic win in the return fixture at Midsomer Norton. Skipper, Cyril Blacker, and his partner, Gerry Rowell, halved the opening match, but thereafter it was Fosseway all the way in a 5.5–0.5 success.

At the halfway mark, there was no indication of such a comprehensive win, but John Williams and Ray Lake, together with Brian Phelps and John Ticehurst, came back well from losing positions to eventually come out on top two up and one up respectively. John Wighton and John Bendle were rewarded for a long intensive game to win two up while Bob Smith and Malcolm Tucker (6 & 4) and Allen Cheney with Pete Fitch (5 & 4) romped home.

Wighton then stepped up to the mark in the Seniors' May Medal to win for the first time with an impressive net score of 62. Former Writhlington schoolmaster, Mike Cage, was second with a net score of 67, beating Williams on countback.
