The latest series of social matches for the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club followed a familiar pattern with defeat away from home, followed by another home success.

Back in April, Fosseway had beaten Whitley 4–2 at home, but in the return fixture they were very much second best, losing 5–1. Captain Cyril Blacker and John Bendle lost the opening match 7 & 6, Reg Curtis and John Appleton went down 6 & 4 and Terry Button and Frank Reeves were beaten 5 & 3. There were closer games for Brian Phelps and John Ticehurst, who were just one down at the end and Howard Nowell and Bob Smith who finished 2 & 1 losers. Secretary Ray Lake and Allen Cheney were the success story, winning their match 2 and 1.

Just two days later and back on home terrain, Fosseway beat Cannington 4–2. Blacker and Denis White got off to a flying start in their match going four up early on. They were then pegged back before finishing strongly to chalk up a 4 & 2 win. Rod Bruce and Cheney won their game 3 & 1, Lake followed up his Whitney success with another win, finishing one up with Curtis, while Colin Moon joined up with Bendle to come home 4 & 3 victors. Arthur Bellinger and Button were beaten 3 & 2 and Pete Fitch and Smith lost 2 & 1.

This Thursday, the Seniors hold their Monthly Medal competition.
