The Seniors section at Fosseway Golf Club produced one of their best results for some time when they drew their social match away to Brean, 3–3.
Historically, the team have struggled to compete with their opponents on their testing course in the first leg of the FosseBrean Trophy, although Fosseway hold the trophy thanks to a convincing home display in 2014.
The partnership of Allen Cheney and Cyril Blacker again came up trumps with a 3&2 win and there were similar margins of success for John Bendle and Terry Button and Gerry Rowell and an inspired Bob Smith. Captain, George Underwood, and Frank Reeves were beaten 4&2 and there were 3&2 defeats for Howard Nowell and Malcolm Tucker and Bill Lester with Chris Ellam.
Fosseway continued their good form with a 4–2 home win over Shortwood Lodge. Underwood had an early selection problem when John Williams dropped out on the morning of the match, but Graham Edgell agreed to come in as a late substitute and rewarded his Skipper with a 6&5 victory in partnership with Tucker. Bendle and Smith won their game 2&1 and Rowell and Lester finished two up. Underwood and Pete Fitch halved their match and Henry Thomas and Button also finished all square, having been four up at one stage, but having to win the last hole to finish on level terms. Blacker and Arthur Bellinger were the only pair to lose after an enthralling game which saw them come back from three down, only to finish one down.
