The Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club maintained their excellent record in social matches with a resounding 6-0 victory away to Folke.
Allen Cheney and Malcolm Tucker led the way with a 7&6 win, Martyn Cuer and Alan Locke were 5 & 3 winners, Mike Weeks and Cyril Blacker continued their successful partnership with a 4 &2 victory while Gerry Rowell and Nick Foxwell finished with a 4&3 success. Chris Appleton and Frank Dance were 3&2 winners and acting captain Alan Jones and Alan White could celebrate after finishing 2 up.
It was a successful few days for Rowell who lifted the Mark Bridges Cup with a total of 54 points in the Murphy’s Stableford. Richard Sullivan just missed out finishing one point behind with Bert Austin third on 49 points. The Committee Cup saw two first-time winners. Recent recruit John Davis paired up with Dave Roden to come in first with a nett 52. Weeks and the in-form Reg Curtis equalled their score but were beaten on countback with Phil Moody and Frank Reeves third on nett 53.
Mike Ricketts was in outstanding form in the Eric James Cup event winning the Bogey competition with +8. Brian Phelps and George Thurston would have been comfortable winners in previous years with +7 but this year Phelps had to be content with second; and Thurston in third.
