The Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club celebrated another enjoyable season with a Presentation Lunch at the Centurion Hotel, Midsomer Norton.

Retiring Seniors Captain, Ray Lake, reflected on a year in which the Seniors section had not enjoyed the most

successful of times in their social matches. They had lost fifteen games, won eight and halved three of their matches, but had retained two of the three trophies that are up for grabs against Brean and Kingweston. He was pleased that the matches had been played in a friendly and humorous atmosphere. Lake thanked committee members and competition organisers and paid tribute to Gerry Rowell, who organised a successful Seniors Open and Terry Button, who had run a very enjoyable away day at Wheathill. Lake passed the Seniors badge over to new Captain, George Underwood, who will be assisted by Vice-Captain, John Appleton.

The Player of the Year and recipient of the Roger Tabb Trophy was John Wighton, who has had an outstanding season. He is now off to pastures new in Dorset and was wished every success in his new surroundings. Bill Lester was Club Champion after winning the Rupert Moore Cup and Roger Parfitt captured the Rod Bruce Scratch Championship. Graham Edgell won the Colin Eaton Trophy after coming top in the Seniors Open Championship. The winter league was won by Bob Smith.
