It proved to be a good week for the Reeves family in the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club. Club stalwart Frank and his wife Ann combined to lift the Joe Hawkins Cup and two days later Frank won the September medal.

The Joe Hawkins event is a mixed puttsomes competition where the men play all the shots to the green and the ladies do the putting. The Reeves pairing won with a points total of 35. Alan and Helen White were just half a point behind with Cyril Blacker and his daughter-in-law Stacey third with 38.5 points. Karen won the prize for the lowest number of lady putts (18) with Malcolm Tucker winning the award for the lowest men’s shots to the green (29).

Reeves then took advantage of his 34 handicap to win the September medal on countback from Allen Cheney who had an outstanding gross score of 73. Reeves and Cheney both recorded nett scores of 60 with Richard Dancey third with a gross 83 (nett 61).
