The sun shone for the annual Mixed Puttsomes day in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club where the men fire the shots to the green and leave the ladies to perform the putting.

The winners for the first time were Malcolm Tucker and his partner, Leanne Dix, who lifted the Joe Hawkins Cup with a nett score of 45. Leanne would also have been amongst the prize winners for the best ladies’ score, but each person can only receive one prize and these awards went to Edna Shearn, Helen White and Anne Reeves. Allen Cheney recorded the best nett score for the men.

Terry Button is taking full advantage of the new handicaps at the club, winning both the Groundsman’s Trophy and the August Medal.

The Groundsman’s Trophy was a close fought event with Button and his partner, Steve Cook, winning the Foursomes Stableford with a total of 43 points. One point behind came Alan Jones and Noel Chatfield with Allen Cheney and Pat Cray a further point behind in third place.

Button was a much more convincing winner in the August Medal, beating the rest of the field by four shots with an impressive nett score of 60. Doug Lane and Roger Knowles both shot 64 with Lane claiming second place on countback.
