The Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club was in good form in the latest social match, beating Cannington at home by five games to two.

Captain, Gerry Rowell, and Vice-Captain, Martyn Cuer, set the tone with a convincing 7&6 victory in the first match out. Nick Foxwell and Mike Weeks came home with a 6&4 win, Malcolm Tucker and John Bendle won 4&2 and there was a 4&3 success for Mike Ricketts and Frank Reeves.

Allen Cheney and Brian Woodruff came from behind before eventually winning 2&1. It was great to see George Underwood back in action for the Seniors, but together with Cyril Blacker, he ended a tight match one down, while Graham Edgell and John Williams lost 2&1. The course was in excellent condition and received many complimentary comments from the visitors.

Noel Chatfield, who has just returned to competitive action in the Seniors’ competitions, is certainly making his presence felt. For the second month in a row, the 28-handicapper won the Medal competition with a nett-64, beating Henry Thomas on countback. Underwood marked his return to action with a nett-67 to finish third.
