Mendip’s Men held their Monthly Mid-week Tankard. Division Three was closely fought, and saw David Lamb third, with 32, one point behind Chris Logan and Terry Purnell, both who carded 33, with Chris winning on countback.

Division Two saw Phil Bendall in second place with thirty points, beating Peter Jones on countback, but the division winner was Steve Moore, with 34. Division One saw better scoring, with Simon Grant winning with 38, beating Paul Reakes (36) and Tom Lowe (35).

The Ladies held a Waltzing Stableford competition, which did not seem to be that popular and this resulted in a much reduced field. Winning with 64 points were Nichola Croft, Elaine Richardson and Lady Captain, Patricia Rawlins, with the team of Liz Rose, Diane Stanton and Anne Collins, second with 62.

The Ladies Inter Club team went into their fixture against Cricket St Thomas with a much changed team, due to several regulars being unavailable. However, Team Captain, Andrea Williams, was delighted with her team’s performance, as they ran out 6–1 winners. Victorious for Mendip were Andrea, Lyn Cox, Margaret Hawker, Diane Stanton, Sandie Roper and Val Dixon.

The Seniors kept up their winning ways when visiting Weston-super-Mare, running out the winners, 4–2. Wins for Mendip came from Jim Scott/Mike Snaith, Tony Taylor/Doug Thompson, Nigel Hill/Peter Rumming and Terry Carter/Andy Frampton. A further 4–2 victory was achieved when visiting Saltford. This time, wins came from Bob Smallcombe/John Brooksbank, Henry Banks/Terry Pavey, Jim Mallon/John Stembridge and Colin Davies/Nick Inskip.

The Annual running of the Seniors Pairs, a drawn partners event, attracted 34 pairings and excellent conditions led to some good scoring. It was a very close affair with six pairings, scoring either 41 or 42 points. Eventually, after countbacks, Brian Francis/Eric Jordan came fourth, with 42 points; the same score as Bob Smallcombe/G. Collier, who were third and Bryan Lewis/M. Osborne who were second. However, two shots clear of the field, with 44 points, were Nigel Hill/J. Harris who win the trophy this year.
