TWO players stood out from the rest of the field when the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club held its Murphy’s Stableford event for the Mark Bridges Cup.

This is the competition where a nett eagle wins you six points, a nett birdie four points, a nett par two points but a bogey sees you suffer minuses.

Pat Cray finished top with an impressive 34 points, with second placed Martyn Cuer just one point behind. Third placed Graham Edgell was six points further back on 27.

There was a much closer finish to the September medal event with a cluster of players at the top of the leader board. In the end it was John Bendle who prevailed with a nett 70, beating off the challenge of Anthony Gregory on countback. Edgell, Rob Wells, Alan Jones and Dave Peacey all recorded a nett 71 with the in-form Edgell claiming his consecutive third place after countback.
