A huge entry of 140+ golfers took part in a four ball better ball competition on the fairways of Farrington Park for the annual Seniors Open competition. With a clear cloudless sky and no breeze to speak of, conditions were perfect for good scoring and the golfing Gods did not disappoint. Thanks to Head Greenkeeper, Nigel Pring, and his staff presenting the course in such good condition, eighty visitors from more than thirty golf clubs across the South West of England unanimously agreed that the course is one of the finest in the region.

Men’s Section
The Saturday Stableford was on 29th August. Some good scoring in both divisions in sunny conditions, with Paul Broadway taking control of Division 1, with 41 points, Mark Chedgy, a close second, with 39 points and Gary Prater, in third, with 38 points.
In Division 2, good scoring as well with Neil Morgan posting an excellent score of 41 points, with Mark Bales in second, with 39 points and Ian Nicholls taking third, with 36 points.
The Sunday Stableford was on 30th August. In good conditions once again over the weekend, Danny Farnen was top of the charts in Division 1, with 40 points, followed by Paul Jones in second, with 36 points and Dave Harvey in the money in third, with 34 points.
In Division 2 it was very close competition with Ian Biddle in first, with 36 points beating Simon Park on count back into second and Kieron Brown a close third, with 35 points.
Following on from the success of the Bristol and District team securing the point they needed to win Division 5 last weekend, the Avalon team welcomed Brean with a win needed to move off the bottom of Division 2. A great 5–0 result saw them move up the table and finish fourth.
On Sunday, two teams made the trip to Long Sutton to compete in the SGU Trounson Trophy, the A team finished a creditable fifth while in the individual Presidents Trophy Kevin Brimble finished second on countback with a nett 70 from Martin Walker who was third. Another good weekend for Farrington Park.
