With temperatures dropping from the seasonal norms, players are looking forward to playing in summer sunshine, but it still did not stop good scoring on Saturday.
Division One player, Dave Swain, had the round of the day, with 40 points, three ahead of second-placed Lee Bruton, with John Chedgy in third with 35 points. Joe Cox continued his good form, winning Division Two with 36 points. Second place went to John Flitter with 35 points, beating Mike LeFeurve into third on countback.
Later in the day, Men’s Club Captain, Gary Prater, hosted his Captain’s Drive-In on the 6th hole. Over sixty players placed individual pegs on the fairway or rough, where they thought Gary’s ball would come to rest after his tee shot. The peg nearest to Gary’s ball belonged to Tony Waldron. Money raised from the sale of the pegs will be going towards the Captain’s Charity fund.
In the Sunday Stableford, there was a successful day’s play for Vice-Captain, Tom Snelling, winning Division One with 37 points, closely followed by Andy Coles with 36 points. Third place went to in-form David Harvey with 35 points.
Rounds of the Day came from two players in Division Two. Bruce Palmer beat Neil Morgan on countback after both scored 39 points. Simon Park took third place with 38 points.
