Some 32 members of the Farrington Park Senior Section enjoyed a great Sunday and Monday of golf at Bicester Golf Club.

A challenging course which was well appreciated by all, with many bunkers (too many!) and lots of water (too much!).

The following day, Mendip Spring were entertained at Farrington Park in a friendly match which resulted in a draw. On Wednesday, some sixty-plus Seniors gathered for a Tennessee Waltz. Some members displayed boundless energy by playing on all four days!

Farrington Park Seniors are into the Final of the Rosebowl for the second year running, beating a strong Long Sutton team, 3-2, at Mendip Spring. The Park’s Captain, John Ward, selected an experienced, well-balanced team, and by using the handicapping system to full advantage, both teams had few shots given or taken.

Result of Tennessee Waltz: First place – Rick Clark/Bob Baker/Steve Mitchell with 82 points; second – Mike Bradbury/Phil Bryant/Mike Rawlings with 78 points; third – Alan Taylor/Chris Liberty/Mike Astle with 77 points; fourth – Jim Lunt/Don Perry/Andy Smart with 77 points.

Nearest the Pins on 5th was Dave Lewis, on the 8th, Steve Mitchell, on the 14th, Pierce O’Shea and on the 15th, Ray Guthrie.

There were only four two-spots on the day: Jeff Bruton, Mike Woodward, Don Perry and Pierce O’Shea.
