An extremely wet October has ensured that golf courses up and down the country are suffering with closures or temporary greens and tees.

Farrington Park is coping well with this inclement weather, and in order to protect the course, only thirteen holes were open, but greens and tees were in full-use and fairways are standing up well to the constant downpours. Well done to our excellent greenkeeping staff.

A new competition format with the rather sinister title of Russian Roulette was played, and thankfully no injuries or fatalities were reported! The format was well-appreciated by all, especially those in the winners’ enclosure.

Dave Harvey, Phil Toogood and Dave Millington came first with 87 points, followed by Alan Skivington, Bob Baker and Alan Collins in second with 80 points and Don Perry, Tony Clement and Andy Smart in third, also with 80 points after countback.

Nearest the Pins were Steve Brixey (8th hole), Martin Hares (10th), Dave Harvey (14th), Colin Glibbery (15th). Two-spot winners, sharing £14 each, were Mike Woodward, Bob Baker and Steve Brixey.
