Pat Cray romped to success when the over-seventies in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club competed for the Ted Cottle Trophy.
His Stableford total of 44 points saw him finish five points clear of Phil Moody. Jack Curtis was third, on 38 points, beating Mike Ricketts on countback.
Whitley Seniors completed the double over Fosseway, with a 4.5–1.5 win on their own course. Martyn Cuer and Reg Curtis were the only Fosseway victors, finishing one up, although Captain, Gerry Rowell and Cyril Blacker achieved a creditable half. Alan Gould and John Williams were beaten 3&2, Ricketts and Frank Reeves lost 4&3, the Bath pairing of Terry Button and Arthur Bellinger were defeated 7&5 and Graham Edgell and Brian Phelps lost 7&6.
