The new Competition Secretary of the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club, Doug Lane, enjoyed the section’s first visit to the Isle of Wedmore for the annual Away Day.
His total of 40 points saw him win the Stableford event by a clear five points. Pat Cray was second with 35 points and Seniors’ Secretary, Alan Jones, was third with 33 points.
John Waters won the prize for the best front-nine, with Allen Cheney collecting the award for the second-nine. Alan White won a bottle of wine for the longest drive and Paul Davies was nearest the pin. Cheney was the only player to claim a two-spot.
Overall it was a successful, lovely summer’s day, and thanks go to Geoff Hallett who helped to organise the event and who donated the bottles of wine, together with wife, Linda. Thanks also to Ray Lake, Cheney and Brian Phelps, who all contributed to the smooth running of the day.
White then continued his good form, winning the August medal with a nett score of 63. Ivan Love was second with 64 and Brian Fear third on 65.
