For the second year in a row, the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club held a Golf Day in aid of the Poppy Appeal, and with a good response from members and others, a grand total of £400 was raised.

There was a close battle for the winner’s Medal, with Graham Edgell eventually coming first with forty-five Stableford points. Allen Cheney and Howard Nowell both came in with forty-four points with Cheney claiming second place after countback. It proved a profitable morning for Cheney, who was also a member of the winning team, joining John Waters, Chris Shellard and Roger Burns, who together finished with a team total of 159 points.

Thanks goes to Competition Secretary, Doug Lane, and Treasurer, Geoff Hallett for all the work they put in to make the event such a success.

There were a number of scores in the mid sixties for the October Medal event but none could match Alan Vowell, who won with a nett score of sixty-two.

Three players scored sixty-six with Malcolm Tucker coming in second with Burns third and Edgell fourth.
