Winners of the Wells Junior Open were Joshua Higgs, who won the White Trophy with the best gross score, Hermione Christie-Clover, who won the best Girls Gross, and Harrison Evans, who won the best nett score. It was great to see so many youngsters playing the game to such a high standard.

Wells Juniors are very grateful to St Andrews Press for their support of the team in sponsoring the shirts, which will be worn by them when they represent Wells at competitions across the county.

Wells Seniors played three matches: firstly, they hosted Taunton and Pickeridge with the match being halved. There were two convincing wins by Alan Elkins and John Watson and Nick Wilson and Ken Ford. Steve Bocquet and George White managed to win their match on the eighteenth, whilst Tony Harrison and Graham Bingham secured a half.

The next match was against Bristol and Clifton at home, winning 5–2. Nick Carter and Ken Ford won their match 5&4, helped by two consecutive birdies for Nick Carter. Steve Bocquet chipped in from fifty yards on the thirteenth to win the hole and with his partner, Jon Mackness, they won convincingly, 5&4.

Finally, the Seniors visited Worlebury and halved the match. Ken Ford and David Flinders had a win on the last hole, despite Flinders playing the wrong ball on the fourteenth. Nick Wilson had an exceptionally good day, winning his match with his partner, Peter Bartholomew.

The Wells Stragglers played against Tall Pines, winning 3–2. Winning pairs were Terry Searle and Colin Wilde, Terry Pearce and Adam Holliday, John Baker and Philip Kenworthy.

The Mixed friendly versus Mendip saw 32 golfers enjoying a sociable game with Wells coming out on top, 5.5 to 1.5.
