One hundred and thirty four men competed for the Jack Callaghan Trophy at Mendip Golf Club.

Division three went to Sam Wells with a net 69 with Paul Godwin second with 71 and M Palfreyman third with 73 after count back.

Division two was won by Michael Rokitowski with a net 72, Gary Lenihan was 2nd with 73 and Alan Clarke was third with 74.

Division one went to Tom Beck with a net 70 beating Tom Lowe who playing off 1, lost out on count back after an excellent level par gross score. Paul Lewis was third with 71 after another count back. However, the overall cup winner was Neil Onslow, playing off 6 who scored a fine net 69.

The winning pair were Margaret Allen and Margaret Hawker with 31 points winning after count back from Penny Oliver and Pauline Williams. Eileen Masters and Wendy Norman were third with 29 points with Fran Davies and Marian Speed fourth with 28 after count back from Anita Butcher and Nola Russell.

The Ladies weekend competition saw a win for young Ffion Richardson with 35 points, another youngster Connie Cox was 2nd with 34 and Ellen Reakes yet another young lady, now playing off scratch, was third with 33. Sue Needham was fourth with 31 after count back from Anita Butcher.

The latest Junior 9 hole competition was won by Alexander Leonard with 21 points. The Pro Shop nearest the Pin was won by Paul Drew with Ellen Reakes second and Jonathan Elliot third.

At long last the final of the Harry Bowles Cup, the Seniors main KO Cup took place having been held over from 2020. This saw a win for John Ellis who despite being five down with seven to play, kept his nerve and finally beat Norman Squire on the 18th green. Well fought John.

Despite covid restrictions, Steve Morris and his Clubhouse Team did an excellent job with pre and post game food and their service received a number of appreciative emails as did the course which had been set up superbly for the event.

First prize for the visitors went to a team from Cricket St Thomas with 75 points winning on count back from a combined team from Cumberwell and SW Artificial Grass. A Stockwood Vale/The Kendleshire team were third with 73 again after count back from a team from The Players Club.

First members prize with 72 points went to Martin Myers/Andy Parfitt/Ian Stolworthy.

The second Mendip prize went to Eric Jordan/Robert Farmer/Ian Pope with 70. Tony Williams
