As Christmas approaches there is only one competition to report upon this week – the December Winter Qualifier.
Division One was won by Danny Middle with 36 points, just beating off the challenge of Stephen Davis, who scored 35. Division Two went to Gareth Collier with 31 points, with Alan O’Leary second with thirty, beating Stephen Ledger on countback.
Steve Tucker won Division Three with 31 points, with Geoff Collard second with 28. This week’s Pro Shop Bullseye Challenge was won by Lynn Cox, with 21 points.
Off the course, an excellent evening took place in a packed Clubhouse, with music provided by Ian Towers, a tremendous keyboard player who has visited Mendip at regular intervals over the past twenty years.
The first half was a medley of popular music played at a volume that made conversation possible, with the second half devoted to a great Christmas Carol Sing-along, which was hugely enjoyed by all.
And so the newsdesk closes down now until the New Year. Many thanks to those who have sent me snippets from time to time. Also, photographs are good to have and anything you can do to help in that direction would be much appreciated.
