Mendip held a Pro Shop Stableford event this weekend, which attracted an excellent entry.
The winning team were Mark Dearman, Colin Wiltshire and Nigel Wiltshire, with 81 points. In second place were Phil Leadbeater, Wayne and Malcolm Srawley, with 78, and in third place on countback were Lee Moore, Duncan Bratt and Chad Patel, with 77. The Nearest the Pin challenge was won by John Ellis, with Ellen Reakes second and Tom Sears third.
Forty Ladies played in the nine-hole stableford event and the fine playing conditions led to some good scoring. Silver Division was won by Jean Padfield with an outstanding 23 points, Anita Butcher was second with eighteen and Edwina Willis was third with sixteen after a triple countback.
Bronze Division was won by Karen Cookson with nineteen, with Ladies’ Captain, Bron Cooper, second with eighteen and Cora Pavey third with fifteen after countback. Copper Division went to Jill Jestico with sixteen, with Pauline Williams second with fourteen and Elaine Richardson third with fourteen.
The following week, the Ladies held an Arizona Shuffle Team event and this was won by Diana Stevenson, Kay O’Connor and Daphne Irons, with 43 points, beating on countback Anne Colline, Chris Down and Eileen Masters. In third place were Gina Howard, Allison Rumming and Jill Jestico, with 41 points.
The last of the winter mixed events saw ten couples competing. The winners were Alan and Pauline Williams, with 45 points. Second were David and Anne Collins, with 42 points, and in third place, with 39 points, were Mike and Julia Phillips.
The final Pro Shop event of the winter season was an individual stableford and saw a record entry. This resulted in a win for Graham Colbourne with forty points, Phil Leadbeater was second with 39, and Thomas Richardson was third, after countback, with 38. The Pro Shop Bullseye event saw a tie for first place between Alan Roper and Club Captain, John Shakesby.
