The 2016 year has come to a close with events mainly off the course dominating affairs over the last couple of weeks.
Seventy ladies attended their Christmas lunch with good fare provided by Andy Jones and his Tee Time Team. After lunch, Ladies’ Captain, Hilary Rowdon, passed over her Chain of Office to incoming Captain, Patricia Rawlins, who, in turn, presented Bron Cooper with the Ladies’ Vice-Captain’s badge for 2017. After a few more glasses of wine, the Ladies demonstrated their carol singing talents with great gusto!
The Childrens’ Christmas party was well attended by 24 youngsters, and again proved a huge success for the Social Committee and Tee Time Catering. Lady Captain, Hilary, and her helpers, ensured all went well and the children were enthralled when Santa came down the first fairway on his sleigh, carefully driven by Rudolph Needham.
As well as the Ladies’ Section and Tee Time Catering, thanks were given to Selwyn Rees, who has supported the event for many years.
Finally, the Seniors joined in the action with the Seniors’ Captain’s Drive In. Outgoing Captain, David Pilbeam, passed over the baton to the incoming 2017 Seniors’ Captain, Henry Banks.
All were delighted to see Henry take up this position, bearing in mind his health scare earlier in the season which necessitated an Air Ambulance trip. Now fully restored to good health, he looks forward to an exciting and successful year ahead.
