Abby Gray and Ryan Sainsbury beat Louise and Tony Scott to win the Jeff Jones Mixed Trophy and Martin D Russell beat Chris Logan in the scratch KO Cup for the higher handicappers, named the Duffers Cup.
After the Penultimate event of the Men’s Order of Merit, Guillaume Lesage held a clear lead with 469 points. Alan Clarke was in second place with 444, Michal Rokitowski was third with 424 and Stephen Coate was fourth with 423.
Ninety two players competed for the Showering Cup. Wayne Black, now playing off scratch, won Division 1 with a fine net 71 (also the best Gross score). In second place was Gary Holister with 72 after countback from Michal Rokitowski. Division 2 went to Neil Clarke with 68 after countback from Andrew Thatcher with Joe Gibbs third on 69 again after countback. Division 3 was won by Alan Edwards with 69, Tony George was second with 71 after countback from Paul Drew. However, the overall cup winner was Simon Jefferies, playing off 5, with an excellent net 67.
Nearest the Pin was won by Jack Hayes with Matt Bendall second and David Braithwaite third.
The Ladies Vyvyan Clare Trophy was won by Jan Fukuyama, three clear of Chris Down in second place who was one ahead of third placed young Connie Cox.
The latest Seniors Competition saw a win in Division 1 for Paul Smith with 37 points with Tony Scott second with 36 after countback from Paul Ashman. Division 2 went to Tony George with 40 after countback from Eric Jordan with Ian Vincent third with 38. The Veterans Prize went to Adam Spragg with 36 with Bill Chard second with 35 and John Hargraves third with 34.
The Seniors final fixture was away to West Wilts and finished in an honorable halved match. Winners for Mendip were Stephen Cox/Phil Brocks, John Ellis/Tony George and Tony Taylor/John Scott.
The Mixed Team had a most enjoyable and close fought affair with Kingsdown running out 4½-3½ winners. Mendip’s winners were the mother and son combination of Helen and Alec Roberts, Ann and David Peel, Pauline and Alan Williams and Chris Olds and Martyn Russell with Anne and David Collins contributing an all important half.
