Orchardleigh Golf Club held their annual presentation evening at the clubhouse on Saturday, 23rd November. The well-attended event was compéred by Jim Worsley, the Club Chairman and Seniors’ Captain.

The evening started with a two-course carvery meal, after which Jim Worsely was proud to announce that this year the club as a whole, had, once again, raised a fantastic amount for the chosen charities.

The sum of £10,805 is being shared equally between Dorothy House and the British Heart Foundation. Jim pointed out that over the past ten years, the club had raised over £100,000 for various chosen charities.

Steph Cox and Jo Millard attended the presentation to receive their £5,402.50 cheque for Dorothy House, and Peter Newbery and Ann McKenna received their £5,402.50 cheque for the British Heart Foundation. Jo Millard, who lost her son in April, praised Dorothy House for their help and support and stressed how valued the money raised would be.

Peter Newbery thanked members for the donation made to the British Heart Foundation, saying he would endeavour to see that the money raised by Orchardleigh would be used locally.

Gary Jefferies, the 2019 Club Captain, then presented all this year’s men’s trophy winners with their prizes, which included the Club Champions. The Butler & Tanner Cup went to Phil Piercy, as the Men’s Club Champion, and the Seniors’ Champion was Gary Quin. Marie Cusworth, the outgoing Lady Captain, presented Anne Regler with her trophy as the Ladies’ Club Champion for the third consecutive year.
