Members from Wells Golf Club joined Club Captain, Stuart Mann and Head Professional, Jack Heginbotham, for a two day Pro-Captain Away Trip to the Vale Resort, in South Wales. The golf on both days was played in beautiful autumnal sunshine.

Over the two days, the match formats were Four Ball Better Ball with Stableford scoring. There were also selected holes where double scores applied. The first round was played on The Lakes course, and the pairing with the highest score on the day was Club Captain, Stuart Mann and Steve Rowse, with a very creditable 51 points.

Narrowly beaten into second place were Richard Sheard and Erica Klim, with fifty points. The second day’s competition was played on the Welsh National Course. Highest score for the round was 43 points, achieved by Rob Berry and Geoff Spinks. Runners-up, with 38 points, were Head Professional, Jack Heginbotham and Mike Magrath.

Over the two days, after totalling up the combined stableford scores, the bragging rights, until next year, went to the Professionals team with 267 points. This was 25 more than that achieved by the Captain’s team. The challenge is on for next year!

The Ladies Autumn Meeting saw a good number enjoying the good weather, which encouraged some high scores in the Waltzing Matilda Bowmaker. Out in front were Jane Hilborne, Jen Jones and Silvia Gibbon with seventy points.

The runners-up, just one point behind were Kim Lord, Kathy Lane and Janette Norris. In third place were Cath Levell, Jannette Ambrosini and Chris Gee.
