True to form, the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club has struggled with some testing Away fixtures, while winning their one Home match.
A double-header with Cricket St Thomas saw Fosseway lose away by five matches to one, but less than a week later, win the return, 3.5–2.5. The first meeting proved very difficult, with some heavy defeats. The only pair to win were Frank Reeves and Brian Woodruff, who finished one-up, while Allen Cheney and Howard Nowell came close before losing by a similar score.
Captain Gerry Rowell and Alan White lost 5&4, Nick Foxwell and Mike Weeks were beaten 6&4, Graham Edgell and Mike Ricketts were defeated 6&5 and Reg Curtis and Bill Lester were on the wrong end of an 8&6 scoreline.
In the second encounter at home, Rowell and Woodruff made a positive start for the club with a 5&4 success; Cheney and Blacker won 3&2 and Martyn Cuer and Ricketts finished one-up. Pat Cray and John Williams halved their match, but there were defeats for Foxwell and Alan Jones (3&1) and for White and Reeves (5&4).
Fosseway put up a good showing away to Cannington before eventually going down 4–2. Lester and Reg Curtis stole the honours with a 2&1 win, but there were creditable halves for John Bendle and Jack Curtis and Cheney with George Underwood. Rowell and Woodruff lost 3&2, and there were defeats for Foxwell and Jones (5&4) and Graham Edgell and Blacker (6&5).
The visit to Woodspring saw Fosseway pick up just one win, thanks to White and Brian Phelps, who triumphed 2&1.
Cheney and Blacker and Cuer with Malcolm Tucker both came close before losing 2&1, but Foxwell and Jones lost 6&4,
Rowell and Woodruff were beaten 6&5 and Bendle and Ricketts were defeated 8&6.
