Firstly, an apology. Wendy Norman was part of the winning Ladies’ team event last week – sorry for the omission.
Mendip’s weekend Stableford was played on the Saturday only due to terrible weather on the Sunday. 49 entered and the winner was Sean Thatcher with 42 points, well clear of Stuart Crane in second place with 39. There was a triple tie for third on 37 and after countback – Paul Lewis was third, Malcolm Srawley fourth and Jack Hamilton sixth. Nearest the Pin was won this week by Steve Turner with John Ellis second.
Fifty Ladies played in the nine hole singles Stableford. Division One went to Edwina Willis with 18 points. There were then four ladies tied on seventeen and after countback Jenny Merrett was second and Lulu Carolan third.
Division Two was won by Andrea Williams with 17, beating Margaret Allen on countback. Joan Clark was third on 16 after countback.
Division Three saw the best score of the day from Caroline Simper with 20 points with Gina Howard second on 19 points after countback from Allison Rumming.
On a gloriously sunny morning, 108 Seniors competed in the four man team Rumba Bowmaker. Played off full handicap but with all four players having to score on six of the holes, all team members had to play well.
Winning with 122 points were Nigel Jarvis/Kelvin Lum/Derek Strudwick/Peter Rumming with Michael Anderson/Hugh Graham/Malcolm Hare/Charles Roberts in second place with 121. Third place, with 120, went to John Ellis/John Cross/Steve Turner/David Braithwaite and in fourth place on 119 Adam Spragg/Robert Smallcombe/Michael Sharp/John Mitchard.
