There was a close finish to the Continuforms Trophy event in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club, but, in the end, an impressive nett total of 44 saw Frank Reeves, Ken Tucker and Barry Dugmore come out on top.
One shot behind in the Three Ball Texas Scramble were Denis White, Martyn Cuer and Bob Smith, with Pat Cray, Cyril Blacker and Geoff Hallett third on 46.
Fosseway go into the second leg of the FosseKing Trophy one point behind after losing the first match away to Kingweston 3.5–2.5. John Bendle and Bill Lester had an impressive 5&4 win, while White and Howard Nowell finished one up. Vice-Captain, Cuer and Brian Phelps halved the opening match, but there were defeats for Blacker and Arthur Bellinger, who lost 3&2. Allen Cheney and Terry Button were two down and Mike Ricketts and Alan Jones finished one down.
There was better news in the home match with Woodbridge Park, with Fosseway winning 3–2. Ricketts and Button won 4&2, Cheney and Phelps were 3&2 winners, while Cuer and Nick Foxwell finished one up. Captain, Gerry Rowell and Jones lost 4&3 and Blacker and Bellinger were beaten by a similar scoreline.
