NINETY-SIX men played in Mendip Golf Club’s Turkey Trot 4BBB. With the course in good order, scoring was high with the winners Andrew Bayley and Jake Russell carding 45 points.

A point behind were Spencer Pocock and Tom Chapman with 44 but only after count back from Kevin Keene and Nigel Pidgeon. Brian Rawlings and Lewis Gumbleton came 4th with 43 and John Hartley and Kevin Brimble were 5th with 42.

Fifty Ladies played in the 9 hole Hidden Pairs Competition which saw a win for Lena Warren and Corrine Durbin with 36 points after count back from Lynne Vowles and Anita Butcher and also from Edwina Willis and Jane Ball. There was a tie for 4th place on 33 where full count back could not separate the pairings of Penny Oliver and Carol Curtis and Andrea Williams and Susy Rudkin.

The Mixed Foursomes annual event saw a win in the gross competition for Rosi Brown and John Ward with Mark Necker and Julie Doyle winning the net event.

One hundred and eight Seniors played in the 4 person Team Bowmaker event held to raise a donation for the Royal British Legion. The winners John Fisher, Stephen Stark, Stephen Manning and Paul Morgan with 87 points were well clear of the field . Second were Mark George, Paul Smith, Andy Parfitt and John Hugill with 82 with Alan Roper, Alan Williams, Michael Phillips and Derek Padley 3rd with 80.

The Low Handicap team, all playing off single figures, of David Braithwaite, Simon Brand, Steve Davis and Ken Webster were 4th with 78 after count back from Brian Say, Rod Dyson, Nick Inskip and Adam Spragg and the team consisting of Tony Williams, Phillip Bisssett, Robert Berry and Mike Tout.

Meanwhile, Alliance A team captain Marion Speed has received the trophy for winning Division 2 of the Bristol & District Alliance.
