As far as the weather is concerned, Mendip Golf Club, like many other local courses, must feel that for every two steps forward, they have to take one step back. Two fine days followed by one day of heavy rain. Still, whilst the main greens are mostly out of action due to the continuing wet conditions, the remainder of the course continues to dry out very quickly. The fairways have remained in very good order and the green staff have made excellent progress with their winter tidying-up programme.

The Ladies held a Waltzing Stableford over nine holes. This was won by Caroline Laws, Eileen Masters and Wendy Norman, with 43 points, with Anita Butcher, Anne Collins and Elaine Kitchenham second, with 42, and Mary Ainsworth, Diane Stanton and Val Dixon third with 39 points after countback.

Stuart Disney’s Nearest the Pin Challenge on his simulator is proving very popular with players wishing to ‘loosen up’ before starting their round. The latest Competition was won by Gareth Roberts, with Club Captain, Richard Jeffrey, second and M. Blowers, third.
