The Seniors’ Section at Wells Golf Club held their dinner and presentation evening this week. Attended by both players and partners, the event celebrated the end of the season.
The section played 36 matches against other clubs, in addition to county competitions. At the event, the cup winners received their trophies. The Seniors’ Championship was won by Jack Baillie, the Dalby Cup for the best nett score at the Championship went to Trevor Jones, the Jones Cup (singles KO cup) was bagged by Nick Wilson, whilst the President’s Cup (doubles KO cup) went to Brian Cowley and Bill McCollum.
The Ladies’ knockout cups have all reached a conclusion, with Glynis Slater winning the Scratch Cup, Linda Wright winning the Woolea Cup for players with handicaps 21 to 29, and Janice White winning the Loxton Cup.
On a very cold November Sunday morning, a good field turned out for the Captain’s Monthly Roll Up. This was the last one under the captaincy of Stuart Mann, who retires from the post of Club Captain later this month.
The format was Four Ball Better Ball. Unfortunately, the Captain was unable to go out with a win. Along with his playing partner, Adam Payne, he was knocked into third place, after count-back, by the Captain Elect, Colin Mantle and his playing partner George Barrow-Stacey. Winners on the day were Mike McKay and Alan Thompson with 42 points.
