The Seniors’ Pre-AGM Stableford for the Harry Mayle Cup was won by Tony Duffin with forty points. Second was John Coughlan, with Alan Elkins third. There was a large field of 59 entrants.

At the AGM which followed, John North was appointed Seniors’ Captain for 2019. Great appreciation was shown for this year’s Captain, John Moxon, who has done a splendid job during the season.

The Irwin Trophy is

eagerly looked forward to each year, being a mixed Greensomes event. With plenty of camaraderie between the pairs, despite the tail end of Storm Callum bringing blustery winds, Bill and Cath Levell claimed the trophy with 33 points, with Sandy and Steve Heath in second place on countback from Erica Klim and Stuart Mann.

In fine autumnal sunshine, the Stragglers and guests went out to play the “yellow ball”. Nearest the Pin in Two was won by Steve Barrow. The contest was keenly-fought, with the overall winning team being Stuart Gowen, Steve Heath and Simon Elliot.

The Ladies’ Pamela Manuel Trophy was won by her daughter, Erica Klim, who was pleased to have won it on her first attempt. Mrs Manuel has been a member for over 32 years, and was very happy to present the Trophy to her daughter. The Seniors’ Summer Cups reached their zenith just as the trees on the course started to display their autumn hues.

The President’s Cup was won by Glyn Hallett and Alan Elkins, who overcame Warren Hamilton and David Shepherd with a resounding 5&4 victory. The match was quite tight over the front nine, then with steady play, Hallett and Elkins closed matters out on the 14th – their opponents being worthy runners-up in this keenly-contested competition.

The Seniors’ singles was won by Bill McCollum with a resounding 5&4 victory. The front nine saw Alan Thompson taking a two-hole lead before going all square on the eighth hole. McCollum then took control, winning hole 9 and then four out of the next five.
