A good number took part in the popular Mixed Spring Greensomes competition. The weather decided to break and the rain pelted down, but everyone still enjoyed taking part and a very pleasant day was had by all.
The results were: First – Diane Ramsay and Colin Mantle, second – Ros Beach and George Davis, and third – Katrina Foote and Mike Gee.
The Ladies’ Palmer Cup was played in good conditions, with medal winners from last year competing for the trophy. Notably, Jill Bocquet scored an eagle on the par-five 11th hole and Diane Ramsay made three pars. In first place, with a creditable nett-76, was Janice White, just one shot ahead of Sandy Heath and Sue Hockey.
The Ladies’ Alliance team played at home against Knowle and came in with a resounding 12/2 win for the first match of the season. There were wins for Glynis Slater, Sue Wells, Sandy Heath, Jill Bocquet, Tina Davies and Erica Klim.
The Ladies’ April medal saw a strong field play some really good golf with Katrina Foote leading the way with nett-66 and reducing her handicap by three shots. Ros Beach came in with an excellent nett-68, also reducing her handicap.
The April Quiz Night was won by the Sopranos team who played their joker round well and answered some of the more obscure questions set by Club Captain, Andrew Boatswain.
