The wind made it hard to stand up straight at times, but the ladies survived.

The Ladies May Medal results are: Silver Division, first place was Jill Bocquet with nett 74.

Bronze Division: first Jenny Davis, nett 76 , and second Mary Harrison, nett 77.

Copper Division: First was Gwyneth MacDonald, nett 74 and second Lindsey Sloman, nett 79.

The Men’s Seniors’ match against Shirehampton took place at Wells. After a close competition this resulted in a win for Wells, four games to two.

The Irwin Trophy is a mixed greensomes competition and the benign conditions allowed some excellent scores.

First place went to Erica Klim and Mike Metcalfe with 42 points, with Barbara Harris and Graham Hall coming in second with 41 points (back 9), third place went to Veronica and Peter Cherry with 41 points.

The men braved the blustery weather to play the Tweedale Medal. Congratulations to the overall winner, Jack Ford with 39 points, his debut in the prizes.

There were just three two’s: Nigel Pring, Rob Wylie and Rob Coate.

Division 1: First was Nigel Pring with 36 points, second came Tim Taylor with 35 points and Mike Metcalfe came in third with 34 points.

Division 2: First place went to Richard Sheard with 36 points, second Rob Wylie 34 points and third Guy Timson with 33 points.

Division 3: First place was Jack Ford 39 points, second was Nick Gumm 37 points, and third was Geoff Ead 35 points.

The first Ladies Interclub League match saw Jill Bocquet, Gill Magrath, Katrina Foote and Tina Davies all win their games resulting in a 4-3 win for Wells.

In the Juniors open the top three came in with exceptional scores: Jenson Barker nett 61, Caleb Wickham nett 67, and Alec Roberts nett 68.
