The sun shone for the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club when they travelled to Wells Golf Club for their annual Away Day, but in general, members found the going tough.

Allen Cheney came out on top with a stableford total of 37 points, followed by Henry Thomas with 36, and Brian Phelps with 35. The longest drive earned Howard Nowell a bottle of whisky, Malcolm Tucker was nearest the pin on the 17th hole, Bob Smith won the prize for the best front-nine, with Graham Edgell claiming the award for the best back-nine. Four players shared the two spot kitty – Cheney and Gerry Rowell on the fifth hole, John Bendle on the seventh and Phelps on the twelfth.

It was a day thoroughly enjoyed by members, and was once again well organised by Terry Button, who was unable to play himself, but who oversaw the event. Treasurer, Geoff Hallett, was also thanked for the work he had put in, and for the bottles of wine he and his wife, Linda, had donated as prizes.

In the latest social match, Fosseway beat Brean 4–2 at home, but it was not enough to win back the FosseBrean Trophy, as Fosseway had lost the Away fixture 5.5–0.5. Captain, Gerry Rowell, led the way with a 3&1 win in partnership with Mike Weeks, the Curtis brothers, Reg and Jack, won 3&2, and there was a 2&1 success for Cheney and Cyril Blacker. Pat Cray and Malcolm Tucker and Mike Ricketts with Nick Foxwell halved their matches, but there was a 3&2 defeat for Bendle and Alan White.
