Purnell Sports Netball Club’s Saturday had an exciting start with their first team, Harlequins, playing a nail-biting game against the ruthless Robins.
The first quarter saw Quins take a two-goal lead thanks to their dynamic duo, Lily and Macey’s movement in the circle and Jada’s (aka Michael Jordan) jumps, turning the ball at every opportunity.
A few changes made and Harlequins entered the second quarter confident, with their heads high. There were cracking interceptions throughout the court, particularly from pocket rocket, Kellie, and stretch Armstrong, Charis. Ending the quarter with a three-goal lead.
The third quarter started with a solid performance from the team and the supporters were now in full force, with no room left on the bench.
With Beth (Captain) as Centre controlling the game down the court and Jo on fire, flying through the air to receive strong passes, the girls remained in the lead.
The final quarter saw Robins come back fighting, with it all still to play for, but double trouble, Jennie and Emma, continued to apply defensive pressure, forcing the opposition to make errors and ending the game with a tight one-goal win. Players’ Player was received by Emma Weskin, with Lily Burgess getting Opposition’s Player.
