Easton Cuttlefish 210-4 Methodists 321-9: After three successive soggy Saturdays, the Methodists’ season resumed with a trip to Filton Avenue in Bristol to play affable opponents Easton Cuttlefish.

Having been asked to bat first, Methodists openers Alex Nash and Mark Robinson quickly got the scoreboard moving - sixty six runs coming in the first ten overs. The home team’s bowlers had difficulty with the blustery wind and could not find the accuracy to contain the rampant Nash, who was once again on superb form. After being given a life in the second over, he brought up his fifty in twenty five balls and scored ninety five of the 131 runs that he and Robinson (22) added for the first wicket.

A couple of run outs failed to slow the visitors down, Nash reaching three figures in just fifty eight balls, and going on to a terrific 147 from eighty balls, before Martin Stratton finally claimed his wicket. By this time - the twenty seventh over - the Methodists had 226 on the board and David Baker was also going nicely with the bat. Baker and Stuart Green put on a run-a-ball sixty five, whereupon Green (24) was bowled by Evan Gibbons (3-27), and it was Baker (78) who saw the visitors past 300 for the second time this season!

After tea, the Cuttlefish quickly settled for chasing batting points, as there was little chance of them winning the game. Neil Boulton (84) and Alex Jeffcut (91*) both played accomplished innings as they added 143 runs for the third wicket, and it was Jeffcut who was there at the end, having ensured the hosts passed 200, picking up the consolation of maximum points.
