Firstly this week a very big thank you to all those members who purchased a copy of the Mendip Golf Club History Book.

I hope that you found it as interesting as I did when researching the project.

I am delighted to report that thanks to your generosity, the target of £1,000 was achieved and donations have now been made to each of the Captain’s Charities.

Twenty nine teams competed in the Men’s 3 ball Texas Scramble. The winning team with a net fifty seven were Shane and Todd Brett and Ashley Drew with combined handicaps of sixty two.

Only beaten on countback were the low handicap team (combined handicaps twenty two) of Jack Hayes, Kevin Keene and Spencer Pocock. In third place came Alexander Gay playing with Liam and Shaun Robertson with fifty nine.

The ladies held a mix up four-person Bowmaker, their last eighteen hole event of the season.

Winning on countback with sixty nine points were Gina Howard, Anita Butcher, Maggie Brain and Lilian Peel leaving the team of Mary Ainsworth, Jenny Merrett, Diane Stanton and Pauline Williams in second place.

From last weeks report of the Seniors Competition I am pleased to also announce the winners of the Veterans’ prize as John Hargraves with Colin Davies second and John Toull third.

The ladies held an end of season match between the Alliance A and B Teams playing for the Sally Trophy.

This year the B team came out on top 7-3. Wins for the B team came from Elaine P Richardson, Anita Butcher and Chris Olds with Lynn Cox winning for the A team. Fran Davies and Jo Espley halved their match.

The Mixed Team finished their season with a halved match when visiting Bath. Mendip’s successes came from Lynn and David Cox, Clive Copp and Pippa Brown and Ann and David Padley with Chris Olds and Martyn Russell gaining a half.
