Having succumbed to a shock defeat at the hands of Firebrands last weekend, Mendip put in another below par performance on Saturday, dropping to third place in the Central Division table as a result.

Old Bristolians were full of running from the first whistle, and their pace and fluent passing caught the Mendip defence off guard. Three goals within the first eleven minutes left the visitors with something of a mountain to climb.

To their credit, Mendip defended resolutely for the remainder of the half, conceding one further goal just before half time.

The second half saw an improved performance, with player of the match Anna Swift trying hard to set up attacking opportunities from deep within the Mendip half. Despite the best efforts of a hardworking forward line, however, Mendip could not break down the Old B’s defence.

The home side scored once more late on to seal a 5-0 victory and give Mendip plenty to think on as they face league leaders Clifton Robinsons at home this Saturday at 1.30 p.m.
