Mendip ensured that they remain in the hunt for a top-two finish with a home win against Firebrands on Saturday.
Mendip dominated the first half, showing great passing and movement. Georgie Kelly opened the scoring, after an excellent, move which saw the ball passed the length of the field. Jasmine Scott made it 3-0 with two trademark close-range finishes, one of which came from Cherilyn Carey’s strong shot.
Firebrands upped their work rate later in the game, with the forwards running hard and switching to confuse the defence. Mendip were not be outwitted, however, with keeper Carrie Tiley marshalling her troops to ensure a clean sheet.
This Saturday, Mendip welcome Old Bristolians to Norton Hill (1:30 p.m.). A win would keep the pressure on Winscombe and Clifton Robinsons in the race for promotion from Central Division.
