Mendip 2nd 0 Somerset Gryphons 4
On Saturday, 16th March Mendip Ladies Seconds played Somerset Gryphons, the current league leaders.
We started off really strong, passing hard, pressing high up the pitch and keeping the opposition outside our D when possible. However, near the end of the half, Somerset Gryphons managed to sneak in two goals giving them a clear advantage. We continued to work really hard with a positive attitude despite not having any subs, making some good passes around the opposition’s players, but just struggled to get the finishing goal.
In the second half, Mendip were very close to a goal, with some near shots from Eva Holliwell and Connie Glover but the team just couldn’t find the back of the net.
The opposition ended up getting two more goals with a very forceful press, despite some brilliant resilience.
Joint Man of the Match goes to Connie Glover, Sarah Whittaker and Oenone Bodman Harris. The final score was 4–0 to Somerset Gryphons, but considering they were top of the league, Mendip played extremely well and never gave up.
