Mendip got their season off to a flying start with a comfortable win against City of Bath. A quiet first half saw Mendip dominate possession, but all too often the final ball into the D was cut out by City’s experienced defenders.
Despite the best efforts of Player of the Match, Jess Smith, who had a storming game in midfield, the score was 0–0 at half-time. The link-up play between Mendip’s midfield and attack improved in the second half, with the returning Meg Adams causing problems for the City defence, and Megan Carey and Maddison Collins both working hard up front.
Second half goals from Smith, Adams, Collins and midfielder, Katie Riches, secured the win and ensured that Mendip go into their next pre-season friendly in confident mood. Mendip welcome West Wilts to St Gregory’s School on Saturday, 15th September; pushback is at 1.30 p.m.
