Mendip’s penultimate League match of the season saw them up against a Taunton side with a number of very skillful players.
Happily for Mendip, a solid team ethic and plenty of hard work allowed them to clinch the three points.
Mendip more than matched their opponents through the first half, and took the lead when Hayley Bullock executed a superb reverse stick strike to score at the near post following a penalty corner.
The second half saw Mendip continue to look strong, with forwards, Maddy Collins, Megan Carey and Jasmine Scott, all putting in the hard yards up front, and Hayley Young leading by example in midfield.
Taunton began to look dangerous on the break late on, but player of the match Sammy Chivers was alert to the threat, timing her tackles well to ensure a clean sheet.
This Saturday, 30th March, Mendip complete their Central Division campaign away to Bridgwater.
