Devizes had the better of the first forty minutes in this East Division encounter, but then Mendip’s Hockey team turned on the style to come away with the three points.

A scrappy first period saw both teams making loose passes, with shooting opportunities few and far between.

Devizes opened the scoring at the start of the second half, breaking quickly down the right and slotting the ball in at the near post.

Mendip’s response was immediate, with Player of the Match, Cherilyn Carey,

converting a penalty corner to draw level. Amy McGowan edged Mendip ahead with an individual effort, which showed great grit and determination. Carey then stepped up to put away another excellent penalty corner strike to seal the win.

This Saturday, Mendip complete the first half of their league campaign as they

welcome table-topping Bournemouth to Norton Hill (1.30 p.m).
