Norton travelled to Knowle on Saturday hoping to win their eighth game of the season and, after losing the toss and being asked to field, were off to the perfect start after Martin Cox, opening the bowling for the first time this season, bowled Lloyd Everett for a duck without a run on the board.

Sam Dewhurst then rebuilt the Knowle innings by scoring 68 before he was bowled by Pang. With the score at 122–5, Norton hoped to skittle the lower order, but James Connell and Jake Edmonds scored quick runs to boost the total to a competitive 215–9.

Despite their inconsistent batting form this season, Norton were confident that a scoring rate of just over four per over was not out of their reach. However, Knowle's opening bowlers bowled with consistency and discipline to restrict the batting early on. Wickets fell regularly, with none of the Norton batsmen able to build a significant innings. The best effort came from Nick Potter and Martin Cox who put on 44 but, when Cox was dismissed after Potter, the required run rate was too high for Norton and they were eventually dismissed for a disappointing 136.

This Saturday, Midsomer Norton's First XI welcome Old Bristolians Westbury to Withies Lane, while the Second XI travel to Marshfield and the Third XI visit Avonside. The following day the Sunday Firsts visit Bath.
