Midsomer Norton won the toss and elected to bat first. It was soon evident that runs would be difficult to come by on a wicket of variable bounce. Pope and Bingham both bowled tight opening spells, but Alex Lear (34) and Martin Cox (52) batted carefully and put together a crucial stand of 96 for the second wicket, following an early run out.
Dean Clifton and Nick Pang added some impetus to the innings, before Brockwell picked up three wickets. Martin Blackmore ensured that the tail wagged as 26 runs came from the final four overs to set the home side a challenging target of 208 to win.
Wembdon decided to attack the bowling from the start, but lost two wickets to Henry Voigt in the second over. Brockwell and Gower maintained a run rate of six an over until the introduction of Pang and Alex Davis to the attack. Davis accounted for Brockwell with the help of the first of Blackmore's four catches behind the stumps and Gower was bizarrely run out by Pang in the next over. Former England International, Ian Blackwell, played an obstinate innings, but was unable to exert any pressure against accurate bowling. He lost four partners before becoming Davis' final victim in an outstanding spell of 4–28 from ten overs, leaving Wembdon on 96–8. Norton found it difficult to take the final two wickets, but Sam Gould wrapped up the innings with a fine spell of 2–17 to maintain the team's unbeaten run.
