Last Saturday, a strong, cold north wind welcomed the visiting team to Norton Down. The game started brightly and both sides had periods of pressure in their opposition's territory. From this pressure, Wimborne scored a penalty from one of the very few that the home side gave away and Norton quickly levelled the scores with a penalty of their own from the boot of Ben Taylor.

Throughout the game, the home side showed a much improved performance from recent matches, with the whole team playing with more fluidity, notably the line-out functioning well, with Ross Miller and Richard Martin breaking through the visitors' first line of defence at will.

Following the even start, the home forwards slowly began taking control of the game, putting Wimborne's set piece under pressure. Tyrone Moss scored Norton's first try in the left-hand corner. Peeling off a driving maul between the ten and 22m lines, he broke through a number of tackles as he sprinted up the touchline. Ben Taylor hit the post with his conversion attempt.

David Sawkins was the next to score, as he dived over the line from another powerful forward drive. The home pack were now fully in control of the game, their scrummage was working well, consistently putting the opposition under pressure, depriving them of clean ball while giving scrum half, Sam Knight, an armchair ride.

Early in the second half, Sawkins scored his second try from a well-executed pre-planned catch and drive lineout. Shortly after, Wimborne scored a try, following a miscommunication between back row players, Denning and Button. This allowed their dangerous backs through the first line of defence and they finished off the move to score in the same spot that Norton scored their first try. This score gave the Wimborne team some hope and upped their work rate, but the home defence was up to the challenge. Centres, Jack Rowles and Richard Martin, stood fast and snuffed out the visitors' attacks.

Flanker, Joe Button, scored Norton's fourth try, following a sustained attack on the visitors' try line and Wimborne gave a penalty away. From the resulting line-out, the Norton forwards powered over the try line, with Joe Button emerging with the ball earning Norton the try bonus point.

The game ended on a high when Ross Miller finished a training ground move from off the back of the scrum to score the fifth try, taking the final score to 34–8. This was a much better performance than recent weeks, with the side taking control of the game.
