THE 2026 season beckons at Camerton and Peasedown Croquet Club, with early season events planned and a new scheme in place for introducing people to the game.
Following the success in 2025 of monthly Roll-up Sundays, the club will be promoting this approach. Come and Play Days will be run on Sunday, April 12, and Sunday, May 3, from 2.00pm.
The club lawns are in Peasedown, accessed from Peasedown Cricket Club; just ‘Roll-Up’ wearing flat shoes and everything else will be there for you to have a game of croquet. More details on the Club website. These afternoons are free to all comers.
Tuition and training days, run by the club’s coaches, are already scheduled for March 22, May 31 and July 19. Mo Boys will be running a beginners and Improvers session on March 22 (2pm). For more information and to sign up for this course email Mo: [email protected]
Andy Loakes will be doing a reprise of his very successful 2025 Improvers’ Course on Sundays in March and early April.
All the fixtures scheduled for the club’s nine teams are now in the club diary and players for these teams are being registered ahead of the first matches which will be in April.
Croquet players hold individual handicaps for both Golf Croquet and Association croquet and these are used when playing handicapped matches at club, league and national events. The handicapping scheme for Golf Croquet which was used in 2025 has been simplified for 2026 and, as a pre-season opener, a Crocus Croquet Challenge was held in February specifically to introduce club members to the new starting levels for Golf Croquet handicap games in 2026.
In February the club enjoyed a skittles evening and are looking forward to a quiz evening on March 21 and a Progressive Doubles competition on March 28.
